When are we going to return to normality?

“When are we going to return to normality?” That is a question I was asked earlier this week during a house visit I did in San Gwann. It seems like a simple question, however the answer to it is rather a complicated one. Before I dared answering I probed; what do you mean by normality? To which she added; Normality, where things happen as they should, where decency is the rule of the day, where the best minds occupy the top roles, where we can rest assured that our environment is not going to be sacrificed for a pre-electoral promise and where we can be assured that our future is safe and secure as new industries are being forged.

It was a bold statement that got me thinking and left a lasting impression long after I parted ways with this lovely family. How is it possible that we have sunk so deep that we have families that their only hope for a brighter future is that we have some normality? Is this the best we can hope for? Is this the Malta that we want to live in?

Over the last year I have had the opportunity to meet many people, some whom I knew before and many which I had the pleasure of meeting for the first time. I was asked many times as to why I am actively involved with Partit Nazzjonalista and as more time passes, my answer is becoming easier and easier. The reason as to why I work day in day out, dedicate every single second of my existence to the betterment of this great party is that I believe in two strong values. Two strong values that drive me in everything I do, conditions my thought process and give me the energy to wake up and live another day towards reaching our goal. The two values I dedicate my life to are:

a) I believe that the Partit Nazzjonalista is the best option for this country. PN have the mind set, the soul, the values and the ideal leader to run this country. With PN in government we are in safe hands as PN will guarantee that the country is run fairly and most of all we are guaranteed that our future generations are well taken care of due to the cautious investment in our economy by introducing new niches that will benefit everyone and most of all;

b) The second value which dictates my life is that I believe that everyone should get what they deserve. Everyone should be entitled to work hard and benefit through the fruit of his/her labours. Each and every individual in this country, no matter who your parents are, no matter who is your godfather, no matter who you know, you stand a chance of making something for yourself. You stand a chance towards building a bright future for yourself.

If one had to analyse the above you can easily say that it’s exactly what Joseph Muscat promised before the election. In fact it’s exactly almost word for word what Muscat preached to his followers in the months leading to the general election. Many believed him, many trusted him, many gave him 5 years of their lives for him to govern and many trusted the future of their loved ones in his hands. Unfortunately, maybe due to the people whom he surrounded himself with, or maybe due to his lack of management skills we ended up the exact opposite. All of a sudden we have governmental departments that are filled with people from Labour’s inside circles, where their only loyalty is towards the person that gave them their cushy job.

All of a sudden if you want to get what’s rightfully yours you have to think like a Labourite and start thinking of what you need to do in order to achieve that. Is it right? Is it right that Malta has ended up a country ran buy the few that their only goal is to make their friends filthy rich? I will only mention one example, believe me I can go on and on mentioning examples of people who doesn’t deserve their roles however I will only mention one. Cyrus Engerer! We do not need to elaborate on his case and on what he is doing today, it was reported in such detail in the media that we don’t need to mention it again. I only pity his victim; as he needs to go through all the pain all over again every time he sees Cyrus’s name printed or his cheesy smile plastered across the papers. Unfortunately we’re living in a country where such people are earning thousands and occupying very important roles while those that really deserve to be in these roles are side lined.

Every time that I elaborate on this point, the first thing I’m asked is this “You’re right, however how can we trust that you, the PN, won’t be the same?” The answer to that is that today Partit Nazzjonalista is led by Simon Busuttil, a person who gave up his excellent career in European Politics to dedicate his life to us Maltese. Simon Busuttil is a humble individual who inspires confidence in all his followers that we are doing what’s right for our country. Simon’s goal, our goal, Partit Nazzjonalista’s goal isn’t to win the next election. As Simon Busuttil stated before, our goal is to Govern Malta fairly, safely and better! We are not planning on winning the next election; we are planning on running this country under the leadership of Dr. Simon Busuttil as Malta’s Prime Minister.

The difference between us; Simon Busuttil’s team, and Joseph Muscat’s team is very clear. We are loyal to one thing, the Maltese people. I form part of Simon Busuttil’s team because I honestly believe that with his leadership Malta is going to be fair and Malta is going to flourish more than it ever did before. The day I don’t believe in that any longer will be the day where I will bid my political career good bye once and for all. This, I wholeheartedly believe makes us the best option, the best hope, the best future the country holds. I repeat, with Simon Busuttil as Prime Minister, things will return to normality, with Simon Busuttil as Prime Minister Malta will be fair.
