“Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something. – Plato” On Wednesday our new parliament had a perfect demonstration of such golden words by the Honorable (pun intended) Konrad Mizzi. During questioning time he felt that it was the opportune time to imitate his Socialist comrade Joe Debono Grech. All of a sudden Konrad Mizzi started shouting and went on a tantrum. He ignored the speaker and continued to hurl insults at the Leader of the Opposition Dr. Simon Busuttil.
Dr. Busuttil in return just replied in a one liner that he would definitely be ashamed if he had paid his wife EUR13,000. Such a perfect reply will surely be remembered and generations to come will hear about it. A proper and perfect description of Plato’s saying indeed.
However what’s more worrying is not that we have now confirmed that our dear honorable super minister Konrad Mizzi harbors a short temper, what’s more worrying is that all of a sudden, in just 2 years this Labour Movement, this Taghna Lkoll movement, has descended into a Karemnu Mifsud Bonnici style of a government. The scene that Konrad Mizzi did yesterday reminds us of the ugly scenes that we used to see in parliament during the 80’s. I’m not one that likes to compare to the 80’s however seeing such scenes leaves me no choice at all.
Unfortunately our country is no longer ran by a Labour Movement, now we have been taken over by a Labour occupation. I know I’m not the first one to use such a statement however as time goes by it continues to prove that this Taghna Lkoll promise was nothing more than a gimmick. Nothing more than a political gimmick to earn the Socialist Party a historic victory at the polls.
During my past training I was lucky enough to do a Neuro-linguistic programming course in which one gets to learn how communication, personal development, and psychotherapy works. This training thought me to read between the lines into what people are actually saying. If one had to dissect Konrad Mizzi’s tantrum, apart from all the shouting, screaming and “shame on you’s” that we’re so used to him saying; there was one phrase which really interested me.
At one point Konrad told Dr. Busuttil “You are not fit to be the leader of the opposition and you’re not fit to be Prime Minister”. My point is this, if you are certain that someone is not fit to be the leader of the opposition, why would you even entertain the fact to tell him that he’s not fit to be Prime Minister? In my eyes that was a clear Freudian slip. This Labour government are becoming so afraid of Dr. Busuttil’s growing stature that they are starting to throw everything and anything at him. Konrad Mizzi and his comrades know that Dr. Busuttil is Malta’s Prime Minister in waiting.
They know this and this slip of the tongue confirms this. This Freudian slip smells of fear, smells of contempt and smells of anger. The Labour-cum-socialist occupation knows that Dr. Busuttil and the Partit Nazzjonalista he leads are butchering their lead daily. They know that if they had to lose power their buffet from public funds stops instantly.
