“Investigations appear rigged to fail”
Partit Nazzjonalista’s Head of Delegation in the European Parliament David Casa said: “There can be no prosecution of the persons involved in the criminal activities exposed by the 17 Black scandal, if the Maltese authorities do not obtain evidence from the United Arab Emirates through official channels. The 17 Black scandal implicates persons at the highest levels of power. On every case with connections to Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri, our institutions have either been completely paralyzed or have worked to ensure that justice is not done. And now this appears to be happening again.”
The 17 Black scandal also has implications on the investigation into the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia. At the time of Caruana Galizia’s assassination, she was working on the biggest data leak she had ever received – Electrogas documents. The owner of 17 Black is the director and shareholder of Electrogas.
David Casa has met with high level UAE officials concerning the 17 Black revelations.
A recent European Parliament resolution called on the Maltese authorities to ensure evidence related to 17 Black is secured and demanded UAE cooperation.
