“Every government should be committed to incentivize Maltese initiatives” – Adrian Delia whilst visiting the Maypole factory

Over the years the Maypole brand became synonymous with bread and other local products.

Nowadays the company not only supplies hundreds of other local shops but has also grown to 20 convenience shops around Malta and Gozo.

This morning, the Leader of the Opposition Adrian Delia visited the Maypole factory in Qormi, where he witnessed the dedicated employees using the latest technology to make good quality local products.

“This is the kind of business that we would like to see, and this is the kind of initiative we would incentivize. Government should be committed to create incentives and provide the right environment for these businesses to grow, flourish and make us proud that we are not only enjoying good quality products but now also exporting them” Adrian Delia said.

During his visit, Adrian Delia also had the opportunity to assist employees and further appreciate their talents.

He also said that “it is a pleasure to see how the industry has grown and has the potential to grow even further, with hundreds of workers now contributing to a large part of the market, whilst maintaining the authenticity of traditional bread.”

He also recalled that “this work is done by hand, shows the passion of Maltese workers that even when they’re baking bread, one would know that it is not only the result of hard work, but also a genuinely local product.

During the visit, Adrian Delia was accompanied by a number of candidates for the European Parliament and Local Councils elections.
