Maltese and Gozitan workers have experienced the least increase in wages amongst European Union countries, all while also having to cope with a steep increase in prices of food and other essential items. This is the politics of a Socialist Government with no proper plan, resulting in the increase of cheap labour and working middle class families struggling to make ends meet.
Today Eurostat published statistics shwoing that Malta saw the least increase in wages amongst all EU member countries. The statistics also confirm the wages in Malta are less than the EU average. This is also not the first time Malta registered a decrease in wages.
Whilst the wages of Maltese and Gozitan workers have barely increased, the working middle class are also facing a steady and substantial increase in the cost of living. The statistics also confirmed that local families have experienced the biggest increase in the cost of living from 2017 to date.
The PN has been insisting about the need for a long-term plan to address the difficulties that families, workers and the elderly are facing when they struggle to make ends meet at the end of the month. PN will continue fighting corruption which is costing tax payers more than €725 million annually, which could easily be used to assist those in need. However the only solution for this Socialist Government is to continuously increase the country’s population and consequently the struggles of local workers, the working middle class will continue to increase as cheap labour and low wages also increase.
