After two fatal accidents Minister Ian Borg brushes off responsibility

“I want to make it clear that the road works being carried out at the moment had nothing to do with any of the accidents which happened during this past weekend”. This declaration was made by Minister Ian Borg whilst two magisterial inquiries into the facts of the accidents are still under way – but Minister Borg said it as a matter of fact already

This declaration was made this morning during a business breakfast reagarding road works in Malta which was addressed by Minister Ian Borg. Many of those present for the business breakfast seemed uneasy about the fact that the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects brushed off any responsibility when the exact facts of the two accidents have not yet been established.

Maltese roads have taken the lives of three victims within just 24 hours – a young woman who was a passenger on a motorbike lost her life in Paola, and two women lost their lives last night, in the limits of Mosta following a head-on crash.

In the area where the motorbike accident took place, works are being carried out on the Marsa project, while in the exact same place where the head-on crash happened last night, works are underway on the side of the road, to widen the road between Mosta and Rabat.
