“Local Councils were never super-favourites of mine” – Joseph Muscat

Muscat said this whilst addressing the third day of the Socialist Party’s Annual General Conference, which has no particular agenda or theme.

We are just a couple of weeks away from an important round of Local Council elections across the country, and the leader of the Socialist Party, Joseph Muscat, said yesterday in Swatar that he thinks that local councils are just a waste of time and have never been “super-favourites” of his.

The Prime Minister also recognized the trash collection as a national crisis, but will not shoulder responsibility for this by transferring the blame to the contractors who collect waste and small businesses around the island.

Muscat tried to save himself amongst Swatar residents, which is ironically right in the middle of two Labour-led councils: Msida and Birkirkara. Muscat who suddenly and without notice dissolved the Administrative Committee for the same community he was addressing, is offering for them to be represented by one person in the Council, rather than the five representatives they had as a hamlet.
