Four days before the election … racetrack promise resurfaces again.

As is now customary in any of Muscat’s campaigns, the Prime Minister today again promised motorsports enthusiast the famous racetrack – the same promise he made prior to both 2013 and 2017 general elections.

When speaking in Żejtun, Muscat said he’d like to invest “€30 million in all sports, from football to a racetrack”. Whilst sports enthusiasts are questioning the possibility of building these sports facilities with a €30 million budget – many are also interpreting this move as a last minute promise because he feels cornered.

It is worth noting that just an hour later Muscat had already forgotten about his big promise, as he failed to mention it at a political activity in Mellieħa.

The Prime Minister had made a similar move prior to the Local Council elections in 2015, when he laid the foundation stone for the Metropolis in Gżira. Another fantasy project which till today is just a big hole.
