The surplus has now disappeared, deficit shot up to €134 million

If just in case anyone needed a confirmation, the NSO figures published today clearly show that the Socialist Government has a financial deficit, which shot up to €134 million within the first three months of the year. This shows that the deficit increased by almost double, given that the last time it was published, the deficit was €70 million, and now is €134 million.

This deficit of the Consolidated Fund is for the January – March 2019 period.

The figures show how Government spending has continued to spiral out of control. When compared to the first quarter of 2018, spending increased by 17%. Most of this was spent on Government entities and wages for people at senior levels.

Figures referring to March 2019 also show that Government debt has also increased by €42 million.
